Title research websites

Image
Hi, it's nice to see you again! We had to do some research on websites to figure out what website would give us the most information on title sequences. Most websites didn't have the information that was needed. Within some of the websites the videos were blurry or lagging. The best two websites that we found were artofthetitle.com and watchthetitle.com. Artofthetitle.com has a wide variety of titles. The titles from a wide range of years. Some can even be dated back to the 1940s. There's even categories for the studios and designers. For some of the featured film and tv shows there's articles linked to them. The articles discuss the making of the titles and how're they're chosen. Watchthetitle.com has an explanation for almost all of the titles that are featured within the website. The explanation and articles give a deeper understanding to the titles and the reasons they’re on scene. Even the sequencing of the titles is explained. On watchthetitle.com the cat

Title research (The Black Phone)

Image
Welcome back. The movie 'The Black Phone', is about a boy who got abducted. In the opening sequence of this movie, there are titles displayed throughout. The titles that are being displayed is the studio and the company, the production company, the title of the movie, all of the actors names appearing one by one on the screen, casting by, music by, co-producers, costume designer, editor, production designer, director of photography, executive producers, producer, screenplay by, directed by, and then that is the end of the opening sequence. There are many prioritized images in this opening sequence being highways, cars, and children running around. I believe that these images were displayed because of the point of this story being a boy being abducted in a van so showing these highways and other cars and children in the opening sequence adds to the suspense of the abduction and is building up the key components to an abduction. The connotations of these images are negative in

Title research (pearl)

Welcome back everyone! Today I will be disusing the opening scene of the 2022 thriller, Pearl. Titles displayed in the opening scene consists of production company tags, the starring actress and actors, the director's name, the casting directors, the costume designers, production designer, the director of photography, the editor, the producer, executive producers, the writers, and then finally the title in a big font. The font of the title cards is reminiscent of the 1950's which is when the film is set. There are many important images that are prioritized. One image shows the main character dreaming in a room of mirrors surrounded by multiple reflections of herself. She is dancing and frolicking. She is happy, content, and in her element. This emphasizes that she wants to be in the spotlight This dream is soon interrupted by her mom opening her room and the main character looks unhappy and sad. This foreshadows how her desire for being in the spotlight will ultimately be her

Title research (Final destination)

Image
Hello, it's good to see you again! We viewed the Final Destination (2000) opening sequence. The Final Destination opening sequence prioritized its need for titles. For example, they included the Director, Cast, Actor + actresses, production distributor, Music credits, etc. The way these titles are displayed show the feeling of the opening sequence. By using a more "ghostly" and "scarier" font, it gives audience an idea of the overall feeling. By including these title sequences, it gives credit to those involved and those who were in the making. The images and closeups of the fan give foreshadowing to the viewers. Signifying that it does have a deeper meaning. There is also a book shown in the opening sequence, that seems to appear a lot more. Again, this foreshadowing is used to express to viewers what events might take place. The music that is played in the background, is eerie and on edge. Giving viewers a feeling of "thrill" and "horror."

Title research (American Psycho)

Image
Hello, welcome back! We viewed the American Psycho, 2000 film. The American psycho opening sequence prioritized titles. For Example, it included the cast, production distribution, director, editors, etc. By doing so, this gives credit to all those involved in the film and the making. Not only are the titles prioritized, but the images within are also displayed importantly. For example, the display of the food in the opening sequence has more of a deeper meaning then shown. Using bold colors like red, this signifies the thrill in the images. Making it appear almost like blood. The knife scene where it is thrown and used to chop food also foreshadows what the movie will contain. It also alludes that this actor may be a killer in this scene. These scenes make audience feel intrigued and on edge. As American Psycho falls into the horror/ thriller genre it makes viewers interested in the unexpected. With connotations and feelings such as scared, on edge, and aware. A specific scene in the

Genre research (escape room)

What elements (conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? The movie escape room has multiple conventions that my group and I would choose to base our final task on. This movie has many suspenseful moments that keep the viewer on their toes. It makes the viewer want to keep watching, and it leaves the viewer constantly wanting more. In escape room, the premise is four strangers, trapped in an escape room game but the escape room has a twist, each contestant dies, and there’s almost no way out. In our final task we will include all of these vital elements of a psychological thriller.  What elements (conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you like? Conventions that we liked in the movie escape room were the use of close-up shots. In this psychological thriller, close-up shots were vital to capture the character’s frightened or threatened looks to help better get the story across or build up more suspense. The use of Non-dietetic

What elements (conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? Some conventions of this Thriller genre that this movie has is the killing part. In the movie M3GAN, the movie builds up to where the doll starts to kill people. In our final task, the killing element in this movie will play a key role.  What elements (conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you like? Some elements and conventions that were in the M3GAN movie that my group liked were the sounds being Non-Diegetic and Diegetic sounds. This allowed for a more suspenseful and Thriller feeling movie. The soundtracks that were used in this movie also was something my group liked. M3GAN also has a very cool opening sequence which offers an intriguing idea. What elements (conventions) of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you? The convention in this movie M3GAN being a doll is something that does not appeal to my group. There will be no need of a doll in our Thr

Genre research (a quiet place)

Image
What elements of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?  The main element of the thriller genre that A Quiet Place has it’s the non-diegetic and diegetic sound. It’s mainly used to show what the characters are heading, and to highlight how quiet the world is, because of how loud those small movements are that we don’t tend to notice. Such as walking or placing down something on a shelf. There’s also non-diegetic sound, which is used to build suspense when there’s climax’s of action. My group will use diegetic and non-diegetic sound to also have this element.  What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like?  In A Quiet Place the monsters that are hunting them are almost never directly shown. They’re shown in blurs and just in sound. You know there is danger, but you don’t know who or what’s behind it. It’s one of the elements my group enjoyed within this movie. It builds the suspense, because you draw your own conclusions and the unknown

On the topic of thriller, we like that it has a wide range of use. Thriller is filled with built up suspense, and incorporates many different elements. However, an interference would include the time range in which we can film. Thriller is all our best fit and incorporates many elements. Including psychology, action, and crime. On the other hand, thriller is distinguished specifically, which may be confusing to Audience.   The mystery genre is filled with suspense. Our group would be interested in this because we feel like it would be fun to film. There are many interesting concepts thats our group could portray with pursing this genre. An inconvenience is that, our group does appropriate costuming to do this genre. Also, we feel like filming an opening with a mystery drama could be more tedious and time consuming.   The romance genre is a love based. The storyline would be following two main characters as they navigate or create their relationship. Most movies within this genre do no

What's our pitch?

Our first pitch is : A young woman moves i nto h er new home, but w hat she does not know, is that she is not alone.   Our second pitch is : A male recently diagnosed with a terminal disea se, fin d reason to keep living. His Nurse  gives him hope th r ough love, However, time is ticking.   The first pitch – We are interested in the first pitch because the concept itself is remarkably interesting . When hearing about the project , we all first went to this idea. There are also certain circumstances tha t make this filming easy. It would be shot in a new home, which one member of the group is moving into a new home. We all discussed our roles in this film , which makes us more interested in acting in it.   The second pitch- We are interested in the second pitch because there are so many ways this story can be portrayed. This idea has several ways it can be execu ted . We have decided that it would be more difficult to film this story . When telling a story about a nu

Working with my peers

Image
Hello, welcome back to another blog. This blog specifically focuses on my group and why I'm working with them. The group I am working with includes Harley, Marlo, Natalia, and me. I have worked with these peers in the past. Including the commercial, and the music video. I like to think we all work amazing together. As we all have our own separate skills in filming, this is ideal when we all put them together. I've known these people well enough to know their strength and weaknesses. I know Harley is a great Filmer and camera holder. Marlo is great at communicating as well as incorporating her ideas. Natalia is an amazing actor. As for me, I pull it all together with my editing skills. I also can identify their skills they need improvement on. When working on our past projects, me and my team found ways to overcome some of our weaknesses. We stepped out of our comfort zone to convey a message. By doing this, we developed more than a "good grade." We developed the skil

All about me

Image
Hello friends! Welcome back, my name is Omnia Fahmy. I like to think of myself as unique. Using three words to describe me I would use, openminded, optimistic, and warm-hearted. As stated previously, I love books. Considering myself a bookworm, I read books every day. I use books as my escape, and imagine myself in a world of all different possibility's? Always asking myself, "what will come next?' A hobby I have recently picked up is skating. I find skating to be completely stress relieving. Skating down a board, wind in your face, and the sounds of nature. Little things like skating and reading are two things I look forward too. My favorite book is now Verity by Colleen Hoover. This book makes me never want to put it down. Overall, these are some things that describe me as a person and my interests. Until next time friends!
