Bedlam, my short film, was created to represent the interworks of mental illness. To be specific, the one we presented was schizophrenia. My film's aim was to present your typical cinema yet identify the intricate qualities of schizophrenia. Schizophrenia can be considered an overlooked mental illness, and our aim was to address how this can be interpreted. In present day, society constantly acknowledges what mental illness is, yet undermines how it affects the average human. In Bedlam, we decided to aim our purpose at the interworking's of these conditions. Throughout our Bedlam film, educating and connecting with viewers about the reality of mental illness was our main concern. In the opening sequence of our film, we showed a first-person perspective of Luna's perspective. This idea was meant to really dived into depth of the visions of what the conscious is of the protagonist. This experience was aimed to really show how the character views her reality.    Hello! I am so happy to see you again. I am more then happy to announce that me and my peers are done with filming. After many trials and tribulations, me and my group finally completed an Era. To recap, our production consisted of a girl who couldn't tell the difference between what was real, and what was fake. With me as the main actor, I applied emotion and standards to this film. With many switch-ups, and more than enough trouble, we as a team were able to push through it all. We are so excited to conclude this production, and beyond excited with how it all turned out. With great communication, came a great production. Aside from this, me and my peers made sure to apply all standards, using  a variety of camera angles. We had to goal to make this look as realistic as possible, while also having fun. As an editor, I made some last minute changes. But of course, I ran it by my peers first. Hey! Welcome back to yet ANOTHER blog. The process of making this production has been a series of emotion. Taking on a roller coaster of Stress, Joy, Excitement, anticipation, and so much more. To recap, our production pitch including the creation of a girl, who was incapable of excluding the difference between fiction and reality. These blurred lines did not speak for themselves. In other words, this meant many details, foreshadowing, and certain shots to conclude the overall idea. With this, came the stressful process of not just understanding how to apply these, but also how to do it efficiently. So, on a real note, this meant taking risks. Weather it was last minute time lapses, subtitles, close up shots, or over the shoulder shots, we needed to make sure it all made sense. So, i went past any doubts, and just did what i felt was best.  Hey! Its great to see you again. I am happy to announce that filming is officially over, and all processes have went extremely smooth. Just to recap, My group includes me, Harley Hansen, and Franshesca Leiva. During the filming process, I split the camera work with Harley Hansen. I decided I was going to film some clips of Franshesca character, Ellie, stealing from target. In order to do so, I used some close-up shots. Next, I made sure to use some over the shoulder shots to emphasis the texting scenes. Then, we decided it would be a good idea to duplicate the beginning scene. This of which, was a short clip consisting of me opening my eyes. I emphasized this shot, knowing it would add character to our production. Overall, the emphasis of these shots were meant to apply to the structure of the film. Creating a more mystery/ eerie/ thriller approach.  Hey! Welcome ack to my so called blog. In the process of filming, we concluded a few major scenes. The same scenes that were applied in the storyboard. After we filmed completely, I added all these scenes into the production, using cap cut. I reviewed the film, reviewed it again, and still felt as if something was off. I knew I had to improvise. So, after discussion with my group, I decided to add an unexpected plot twist. With the goal of portraying the uncovering of a mystery, this plot twist was last minute. It consisted of a very fast time lapse, in which the whole film was recorded. It essentially meant that everything that happened, was fake. My idea was a reach at first, but after putting in this plot twist I was extremely impressed. Not only did it go amazing, but it matched up perfectly with the music.    Hello! Welcome back! After communication, me and my group have decided to use Cap cut. We are familiar with this app, as we've used it in past productions. I am familiar with the set up of this app. I've already applied some of our clips into the app, with the idea of adding on as we go. A few fade-in edits were placed in. As well as a few duplicates. During this process I duplicated the same video 6 times, each time it being a different part of the clip. This was also combined by two other clips that were duplicated. Next, I added an extracted, royalty free, background music into the production. For this, I screen recorded the music and extracted it. I then applied this into several parts of the production. This includes the beginning, and the very last few clips. I decided i was going to lower the exposure, and brightness of the film, feeling it fit more into our realm.  Hey! Welcome back! The filming process has been set back, Once again. After all of our schedules not aligning we've had to make some tough decisions. We've decided it's maybe not the best idea for us to film in a "psych ward." However, we did make the final decision to film within Harley's sisters room. As it gives a more eerie approach. I am however, happy to say I am more content with this decision. Another major decision we decided to make was splitting up filming into two days, not consecutively. We realized that with our schedules, we couldn't make the time to film on more than two days. We did however, come up with some great ideas. We did have to adjust the ending of our film, due to the setting change. Now, the end of our production will say, "time for your medication." This idea is a more plot-twist approach, created by me.   Hey! Welcome back. I am disapointed to say that the filming process has been a little slow. We have however, agreed on our exact plan. We plan to film in several settings. Those being Harley's house, Barne's and Noble, aswell as Target. This also includes parking lots, bathrooms, etc. We also agreed that Me, and Franshesca would be the only actors featured in this film. With me being the main character, and franshesca being character number 2. Our actor's names will be Luna, and Ellie. As we went over some clips, we decided to retake each one about three times. Feeling as if this would give us more flexibility in choosing the perfect clip.    Hello! welcome back! I am so excited to announce that we have started filming. This process was not easy to start, and we did have to get through many setbacks. However, these obstacles were overcome. It started with Harley behind the camera, filming me open my eyes. We used this as it was a crucial scene and matched with the storyboard. Next, I filmed man filler shots, used for the opening sequence. These shots consisted of first Pov, tracking shots, close up, etc. Thes were also used for buildup and anticipation. I used the best out of what we had, and the film has now become in progress! I 'm planning on beginning editing once Harley sends over the footage. We will be not only enjoyable, but productive. While filming, I did have to retake many shots, as I kept messing up. We saved these bloopers to look back on and laugh at!    Hello! It's great to see you here once again. I regret to inform you of some very disappointing news. Me and my peers were unable to find the time to film. We had a plan to film in the beginning of February, but this did not occur. With unfortunate events, me and my peers had to collectively agree on another day. This was extremely difficult to make work as we all have different responsibilities. However, we all made sacrifices and put aside what can be done. Our new plan date to film is February 16th. Our plan consists of still, all the same things. NOT including a few minor changes due to setbacks. These changes include the possibility of a scenery change. Weve also discussed the safety measures needed to take when filming. For example, me and my group plan to film a stunt "theft" scene in a store. My group, consisting of Harley Hansen and Francesca Leiva. Our pitch includes "A girl struggles to realize the blurred lines between fiction and reality." After much communication and thought, we plan to film in the start of February. This was set back by many occurrences. Between our collective work schedules, and other responsibilities, we struggle to find the time to start filming. We plan to film just the beginning shots. This includes a girl opening her eyes, awakening from a very realistic slumber. Another of her taking medications.   These first 6 boxes is the main character waking up and going through her morning routine. When she leaves her house, she says bye to her mom. She hears her mom respond back, but when she gets outside she realizes that her mom isn't home.  The next 6 boxes is the main character hanging out with her friend at the mall. The main character watches as her friend starts stealing from a store.  The main character then calls out her friend on her actions. They walk out of the store into the parking lot and start arguing. .  The main character gets home from the mall and empties her bag. She notices that there's a bunch of rando items in her bag that neither of them bought. She texts her friend about what she did.  The last scene is t friend picking up her phone.  The best friend answers the texts. The friend argue back and forth again.      Hello! welcome back to yet another blog. It amazing to see you again, and I'm beyond excited to catch up. For my project, I am working with Harley Hansen, and Franchesca. We plan on creating a thriller/ mystery genre short film. In which the pitch applies to "A girl struggles to realize the blurred lines between fiction and reality." This id appealing to us as this genre is extremely intriguing, and it also allows us to explore an option we enjoy. Not only this, but we are also extremely familiar with this genre, in terms of our past projects. We plan to create a short film that not only meets our genre, but also ties in a few scarier/ horror elements. In terms of roles, we will all split editing's, filming's, acting, director, etc. For this movie, I plan to be an actor, potentially the leading role.  This was by far a favorite, this storyline explains a man who lost his best friend, Julia with curly red hair, in a murder, however, he saw the killer but could not recognize their face due to his medical condition prosopagnosia- a condition that prevents a person from recognizing anyone's face. In the beginning, the man is being interrogated by an investigator, the investigator seems to get more aggressive with the man because he believes he is to blame for Julia’s murder. However, he explains he loves Julia very much and that he saw the clear but simply couldn't recognize him. The only thing he can say is he had a Yankee's shirt and was the same description as him. The investigator eventually gets evidence to believe him; they both end up driving to the crime scene to prove something which somehow causes follow-up questions including any past with Julia. The man dated Julia but he ended it due to him only seeing her in a platonic way, eventually, he got with another woma...

 For one of our films of research we did a thriller mystery called 'Jet.' Overall the film starts off with a man in a car about to shoot himself in the head,  but before he does anything he sees a little girl which stops him. He sits in silence allowing him to see the girl get abducted by a man in a van, he then follows the van to end up at the house she has been taken to. The man then walks up to the house with the gun he planned on using on himself. Two other men come out which results in them being shot. Then the man walks into the house to save the girl just to find her sitting unharmed. Though what happened isn't clear one could assume that she was safe and those people he shot were her family of some sort.      However, to get a sense of feeling instead of just a storyline, angles, costumes, props, and editing were key factors. The directors of this film used many wide shots, hidden angles like in a bush, point-of-view shots, close-up shots, tracking shots...

   “Wanderer” By Mark O’ Brien and Jake Wilkins are yet another short film that falls under the Mystery/ Thriller Genre. This short film includes many elements in which apply to our chosen genre, Mystery. This short film is based on a male traveler who arrives at a secluded house around the evening time. As he is looking for shelter, he stumbles across a youngish couple that appears to be around his age group. They invite him into dinner in which later leads to the uneasy feeling of the woman. Leading to the following questions, “Could it be that the nomadic serial killer who has been stalking the area has just walked into their house?” “Will they survive the night?”  “Wanderer” was produced in way in which readers follow up with the following question “what is going to happen next” In this case, with the usage of sound/ noise.  After looking into a few short films in which applied to our genre, I found that that that “Scruples” by Adrian Powers was a great fit. This film is based on two ‘cleaners’ for a criminal gang who have been sent to tie up a loose end. However, one of them is an undercover cop who finds himself in a tricky spot. A slightly insincere account of how policeman would actually have to act Is the approach that overall surrounds this film.   This short film has great similarities when it comes to appealing to audience, including sounds. Commonly sound sounds in this genre include dramatic sounds that interpret exhaustion, or sudden surprise. Like found in the short film, background noise is intriguing and allows the audience to feel a sense of suspense. This also applies in terms of CLAMPS, in which the mystery genre often uses costumes that may make a character look often overlooked, like in the short film where they were basic-colored coats.  Writing to what you have resources to is a strong saying that we’ll have to live by when developing our plot and script. We can only write with what we have.  There’s only so much we can do with the camera that we’re filming with and the lack of mics. Knowing that we’ll need time to edit and fix the pacing of the film. There’s only 5 minutes we have, so we need to be careful on how much we film and the amount we’ll cut. Over filming is the best option, but we need to make sure the plot isn't one that doesn't have to be fully fleshed out to be able to understand. There does need to be payoffs of some sort and every scene has to count, there’s not room for filler. There also can’t be a lot of predictability within the film, which will be hard because of the groundhog type day plot we plan on using. There has to be types of scenes that the audience won’t see coming, while also following the theme of the story. The theme will drive our plot, and it needs to be understood by the a...

part 2 The short film LeJetee is one that can’t be fully understood within just one watch. The film is one that you can watch several times and pick up on new things every time, which only makes the plot twist even better. You could even do background research to fully understand what the film is conveying. I gathered that the concept of the film must be one that leaves people wanting more. So, the film must be complete, but the plot is short. The short length of time though, shouldn't take away the depth of the film. It should be able to be expanded, with a plot that can be developed. This is helpful to keep in mind while creating our short film. We can’t put every single scene we think of into the film, just the ones that are needed. So as long as the plot can be understood and the plot twist is done well everything should be achieved.
